A little more about this look
Reading Corner turns photos into bookmarks: a small gift for a reader, a teacher, a grandparent with a stack of library books. The design alternates two bookmarks. One has a photo in the upper half and a quote or a short note underneath in a high-contrast serif; the other is a full-bleed photo with a title near the bottom. Every bookmark has a small circle at the top marking where to punch a hole for a ribbon or a loop of string.
Tall, narrow photos work best: a doorway, a tree, a person standing, a lighthouse. For the quote, pick a line from the book you are giving, or a line the person always says. Print on heavy card so the bookmark does not curl, and round the corners with scissors if you like.
Five strips print side by side on one landscape sheet, one side only, so glossy photo paper is fine. Cut along the tick marks with a ruler or a paper trimmer; bookmarks have a punch circle at the top for a ribbon. Print at 100%, never Fit to page, or the strips come out narrower than the marks. The set uses 5 photos across 5 strips.
How you will assemble it
1Print 1 sheet. Landscape, 100% scale, one side only.
2Cut along the marks. Line a ruler up with the tick marks at the top and bottom edges and cut each strip free.
3Finish them. Bookmarks: punch the circle at the top and thread a ribbon or a loop of string.
