A little more about this look
Just Because is for the cards nobody expects: thinking of you, good luck, well done, sorry I missed it, or simply hello from far away. It uses the scrapbook style, cream paper, handwritten captions and photos held down with strips of tape, so it feels made by hand even though it came off a printer. The front holds one photo with your line underneath in a looping hand. Inside on the left are two photos stacked like snapshots stuck into a journal, and the right side is a message block with a signature line.
The back stays clean except for a small made-at-home note. This is a good card for old photos: a scanned print from years ago looks right at home under the tape, and the cream paper hides the colour shift that old prints often have. Write the message in your own voice. A card like this lands best when it sounds like a text message you took the time to print.
The card prints on one side of a single portrait sheet, so any home printer works and nothing has to line up on the back. The inside half prints upside down along the top of the sheet; that is correct, because the first fold turns it the right way up. Print at 100% or Actual size, never Fit to page. Card of 160 to 200 gsm stands up on a shelf; plain paper works but feels like a leaflet. Fold the top half behind, then the left half behind the right, crease with a ruler and press it under a book. This card holds 3 photos.
How you will assemble it
1Print the sheet. One page, portrait, 100% scale, one side.
2Fold the top half behind. Keep the print on the outside.
3Fold left behind right. Fold the left half back behind the right half so the front ends up on top.
4Press it flat. Put the card under a heavy book for a few minutes so it stays closed.
- How to fold a quarter-fold card from one sheet of A4 or Letter
Fold a greeting card from one printed sheet: top half behind, then left behind right. Why the inside prints upside down, and the paper that works best.
- Folded card sizes: what each sheet makes and which envelope fits
A4 folds to an A6 card, Letter to 4.25×5.5 in, A3 to A5. A table of folded card sizes, the envelopes that fit (C6, C5, A2, A7) and which fold to use.
- How to make a birthday card with a photo at home
Put their photo on the front, write a real message inside and print a folded birthday card on one sheet. Which photos work, paper, and how to fold it.
