Canva zine templates vs a real zine maker
Canva can lay out pages, but it has no zine imposition: it will not rotate panels or order pages so a printed sheet folds into a zine, and its dedicated zine template pages currently return a 404. Foldpic does the imposition and gives you the fold steps.

Canva is the tool most people already have open, and it is genuinely good at page design. It has 733 photo book templates, a PDF Print export, and its own booklet printing service. Many TikTok zine tutorials start in Canva for exactly that reason.
The catch is that a zine is not a stack of pages, it is one sheet folded so that pages land in a ring, with half of them upside down. Canva has no idea about that. Its booklet guides tell you to keep the page count to a multiple of four and check with your printer, and its zine template pages return 404 as of September 2026.

What Canva is great at
- Free-form page design: any element anywhere, with a very large stock and template library.
- Photo books you intend to have Canva print, with proper PDF Print export.
- Everything that is not a book: posters, social posts, flyers to go with your zine.
- Teams and brand kits on the Pro plan.
When to use Foldpic instead
- You want an 8-page zine that folds correctly from one sheet without rotating panels by hand.
- You want a stapled booklet imposed for double-sided home printing.
- You want fold and print instructions built into the download.
- You do not want to sign in just to download.
Questions people ask
Can I make a zine in Canva?
You can design the pages, but Canva does not impose them. For a one-sheet zine you must place eight panels on one page yourself and rotate the top row 180 degrees, then print at 100% scale.
Why do Canva's zine template pages 404?
As of September 2026 the zine template URLs on canva.com return a not-found page. User-made templates still show up in search inside the editor.
Can I import a Canva design into Foldpic?
Not as a design. You can export your photos and rebuild the zine in a Foldpic template in a few minutes.
Is Canva better for a photo book?
If you plan to order printing from Canva, its 733 templates and PDF Print export are excellent. If you plan to print at home and fold it into a booklet, Foldpic does the imposition Canva does not.
