Shutterfly photo book PDF: what you can and can't download

Shutterfly does not provide a print-ready PDF of your photo book; the product is the printed book it ships to you. To keep a file you can print at home, design the album in a tool that exports PDF, such as Foldpic.

As of September 2026. About Shutterfly: Large US print-and-ship service with a free 24-hour Make My Book design service and constant page promotions. www.shutterfly.com/photo-books

Shutterfly is the default photo book service for a lot of people in the US. It has hundreds of templates, AI autofill, and a free Make My Book service where a designer lays out your book within 24 hours. Sizes run from 8×8 to 12×12 inches, and unlimited free pages promotions are common.

What it does not do is hand over the file. There is no PDF export, so you cannot print a copy yourself or keep a backup of the layout. Reviews also show a recurring fear of losing work in the editor. Below is a factual comparison with Foldpic, as of September 2026.
