A little more about this look
Field Notes Year is a desk calendar in the kraft style: brown paper colour, dark ink, a soft old-style serif and photos with a gentle drop shadow, like prints laid on a notebook. It leans on the wide layout with the photo above the dates, which suits walks, gardens, views and the outdoors, and mixes in side-by-side and two-photo months for variety.
Month names, weekdays and dates are generated automatically from the start month you choose, so you can begin in January or in the middle of the year for a birthday or a new job. Kraft looks best with photos that have some warmth in them; very blue winter scenes can feel cold against the brown, so save the frost and snow for a minimal calendar.
The twelve months print four to a sheet on three landscape sheets, one side only, and the month grids are filled in for you from the start month you choose. Use 200 to 300 gsm card, print at 100%, cut each sheet into quarters on the tick marks, stack the months in order and clip them with a binder clip folded back into a stand. The calendar uses 15 photos, at least one for every month.
How you will assemble it
1Print 3 sheets. Landscape, 100% scale, one side only.
2Cut along the marks. Cut once across the middle and once down the middle of every sheet, using the tick marks on the edges.
3Stack and clip. Stack the months in order with the first month on top.
